Projects

Each year the Port Commission adopts a capital improvement budget that supports the Port of Camas-Washougal’s mission to drive economic development, create jobs, promote commerce and provide recreational opportunities. These capital improvements include a wide range of projects, to include wetland mitigation and restoration, building construction, and continuing management of all port owned properties and facilities.

Marina

Breakwater Access Construction

PROJECT COMPLETED – The Port will replace the current non-ADA compliant breakwater access ramps with 7′ wide acceptably sloped ramps to allow for utility vehicles to access in case of emergencies. The current concrete platform will be renovated and two new will be added. Each will feature benches for those who wish to rest and enjoy views of the marina and Columbia River.

The overhead electrical lines along the breakwater dock will be removed and relocated through conduit mounted to the dock and 8 additional electrical pedestals will be installed. Electrical capacity will be increased and the new electrical system will incorporate current leakage detection. A fire department connection will be installed for additional fire safety.

East Dock Replacement

PROJECT COMPLETED – The wooden east dock was taken out of service in 2018. Mantle Industries LLC in Blaine, Washington will be providing components for a 240 ft long 6 ft wide new east dock. The dock will be installed by Port staff during the late spring or early summer of 2023.

Airport

Fuel & Pre-Flight Staging Area

PROJECT COMPLETED – Harper Houf Peterson Righellis Inc (HHPR) is providing survey and civil engineering support for the expansion of the fuel and pre-flight staging area.  The project is scheduled to be advertised for bid in the late spring 2022 with construction completed by the end of the year.

Industrial Park

Building 20 Construction

PROJECT COMPLETED – Rotschy, Inc. was awarded the contract to construct a 50,000 sq. ft. metal pre-fab Building, slab on grade, in Steigerwald Commerce Center on Adjusted Parcel 12. The new Building #20 will have the ability to demise into fifteen (15) 3,300 sq. ft. bays.  Building #20 is expected to be completed by the end of 2022 and will mirror Building #18 that was completed in May 2018. The Port is working diligently to improve Washougal’s economy.

Building 8, 11, & 15 Parking Area Improvements

PROJECT COMPLETED – The Port will be improving the surfaces of parking areas at many properties during the spring and summer of 2023. This work includes crack sealing, adding slurry seal and striping the traffic markings.  A timeline for work and closure notices of parking areas will be provided once a contractor has been selected.

Building 8, 11, & 15 Parking Area Improvements

PROJECT COMPLETED – Work is weather dependent and expected to begin later this spring. Notification will be provided to those that may be impacted by the project.

SE 41st Street

Mackay Sposito was awarded the engineering services contract to design SE 41 Street which will add a connection between Lincoln and Grant Streets. Construction is expected to begin during the summer 2025
