July 30th Open House on Waterfront Revitalization

Washougal, Wash. - July 19, 2013 - The public is invited to comment on plans for the 13.25 acres of waterfront property recently acquired by the Port of Camas-Washougal.
This will be the first of two Open Houses on the Waterfront Revitalization Project which will be held at the Port’s Administrative Building. Refreshments will be available.
“The focus of the Open Houses is the Recreational Facilities Element of the Port’s comprehensive plan, a critical piece of the grant application process, said David Ripp, Executive Director.  “We were successful in securing grants for the initial environmental study and clean-up of the property and will actively seek grants for developing a waterfront trail.  I am looking forward to a good turnout and input from the community on what they’d like to see on ‘their’ waterfront.”
The second Open House is scheduled for Tuesday, September 24, 2013. A conceptual graphic of a proposed waterfront trail design will be on display at both Open Houses.
The Waterfront Revitalization has three components, led by consultants:
1.  Recreational Facilities Element of the Port’s Comprehensive Plan - Rod Orlando Technical Writing & Planning
2.  Waterfront Environmental Clean-up - Maul Foster & Alongi
3.  Waterfront Trail Design and Concepts - BERGER/Abam
The Port is leading the public outreach portion of the project which includes an online survey to gather citizen input on waterfront revitalization and trail plans. The survey can be taken online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/VG686XJ and will also be available at each Open House.
The environmental clean-up and trail design data as well as the survey results will be included in the Facilities Element.
