Port of Camas-Washougal Awards Contract for Next Steigerwald Commerce Center Spec Building

Washougal Wash. - July 8, 2015 - The Port of Camas-Washougal today announced award of the contract for Bldg. 17 in Steigerwald Commerce Center. Team Construction LLC, a locally owned general contractor specializing in commercial construction, is the successful bidder for this public works project. The Port commission approved the contract during their July 7 regular meeting and construction on the 24,300 sq.ft. building is expected to begin August 2015.

“We are pleased to see continued growth as Steigerwald Commerce Center is developed,” said David Ripp, Executive Director for the Port. “Occupancy levels in our industrial properties remain at or near 100%, giving credence to the saying, ‘If you build it they will come.’ The Port’s success in creating a business-friendly environment for new and growing companies is shared with our partners: CWEDA and the City of Washougal.”

ABOUT THE PORT
The port brings jobs and recreational opportunities through a 400-acre industrial park, a 79-hangar general aviation airport and 350-slip pleasure boat marina. Grove Field is a small, general aviation airport with a state-of-the-art fueling station and 14 tie-downs in addition to the hangars. The marina is the largest publicly owned marina on the Washington side of the Columbia River and has a floating restaurant, launch ramp, nearby hotel, fueling station, electricity on the breakwater/guest dock, and is homeport to the Dolphin Yacht Club. Recently acquired and in the planning stages, are 13.25 acres of Waterfront Property which connects to a 14-acre parcel of port-owned land to the east. The industrial park boasts a 90+ percent occupancy rate of more than 40 businesses with an annual payroll of $8.9 million and is adjacent to Steigerwald Commerce Center, 120+ acres of property currently under development. The port also manages Captain William Clark Park at Cottonwood Beach, the adjacent protective levee and Parkersville National Historic site.
