Washougal, Wash. — October 13, 2010 — The Port of Camas-Washougal today announced an open invitation to the public for its 75th Anniversary Commemoration and Open House on Friday, November 5, 2010.
“We’re re-introducing a long-standing port theme ‘The World At our Door,’ as we celebrate 75 years of operations in our community,” said Port Executive Director David Ripp. “We are optimistic about what lies ahead and enthusiastic to share our vision for the future and look at the anniversary as a perfect kick-off event.”
The port is officially inviting the public and all local elected officials in Camas and Washougal, previous port commissioners and staff for the opportunity to reminisce about past experiences and celebrate together the future of the Port of Camas-Washougal and our community.
The port office at 24 South ‘A’ Street will open its doors for visitors to the 75th Anniversary Commemoration and Open House promptly at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 5, 2010. At 11 a.m. guests will convene in Marina Park (or in the commission boardroom in case of inclement weather) for the official commemoration ceremony.
Event Agenda will include the following:
10 a.m. - Mix and mingle with staff and commissioners indoors in the commission boardroom. A running slide show and port memorabilia will be on display. Cookies and hot drinks provided.
11 a.m. - Announcements of new port marketing initiatives: 1) community treasure hunt with online clues and 2) redeemable port coupons that will be made available via the Post-Record newspaper and on the port website. Guest speakers will follow these announcements.
12:00 p.m. - The public is invited to view the lobby area renovations that have taken place and to receive a special memento. Guests will be invited indoors to enjoy cake and hot drinks and mingle with the public and port staff.
About the Port of Camas-Washougal
Formed in 1935 by a vote of the local community, the Port of Camas-Washougal brings local jobs and recreational opportunities through a 400-acre industrial park, a 79-hangar general aviation airport and a 350-slip pleasure marina. Popular with recreational and general aviation pilots, Grove Field airport has a state-of-the-art fueling station and 14 tie-downs. The Port of Camas-Washougal marina, the largest publicly owned marina on the Washington side of the Columbia River, is adjacent to two restaurants, a launch ramp, hotel, a marina park, fueling station, guest docks and is homeport to the Dolphin Yacht Club. The port also manages the Parkersville National Historic site, Captain William Clark Park at Cottonwood Beach and the adjacent protective levee along the Columbia River.
