PORT COMMISSION BEGINS 2013
BUDGET PROCESS
The Port’s 2013 operating and capital budget adoption
process will begin at the Tuesday, June 19 board meeting.
As with all prior year budgets, the port will prepare a
budget that operates within its means by only allowing
property tax revenue, that comes from the port
constituents, to be used towards capital projects; leaving
operating expenditures to be fully funded by operating
revenues and some non-operating revenues excluding
property taxes.

One of the benefits of having the port office close to the popular marina, boat launch and waterfront park is the regular flow of visitors. To take advantage of the number of visitors as well as create an opportunity to educate visitors, the port has created a lobby area that is friendly and informative. Lined with nautical flags and colorful banners, the lobby area has information kiosks, an electronic monitor for revolving presentations and as of April 2 a rotating art exhibit. Showcasing the works of local artists, the north wall contains samples of local artwork and will change out every three months. Stop by to admire the work. Note: A sample of one of the art pieces, photographed by Mitch Hammontree, is a beautiful example of life on the waterfront.

Surprising staff and friends, port employee Larry Connelly walked into marina park on Sept. 16 to enjoy the concert. Stunning everyone, he explained that Stanford University hospital let him out six weeks early—a sign that his recovery is well underway. As many of you recall, Larry was the recipient of a double-lung transplant just a few months ago. He’s recovering now at home and says, “I feel like I’m 20 years younger!” He looks like it too! Next up: one-armed pushups!

In a race to the finish, Treasure Hunt finalists turned in their answers on Friday, August 19 and the winner was Dave Sarchet. Congratulations!Answers_to_Treasure_Hunt.pdf

Details of the contest are provided in the attachment. A total of 15 correct answers were required to complete the final Word Search puzzle. There were several questions that had two acceptable, correct answers. Also, the answer to one question was found in two places (either choice was acceptable) and completed answers were expected to all the questions. Of the 8 finalists who turned in their Word Search puzzle by the deadline, many circled all of the correct answers. The first person to turn in a Word Search puzzle with all of the correct answers was Dave Sarchet. Thanks for playing everyone! Thank you to Berger Abam for donating the Apple iPad 2!
